Surface Treatment, Abrasive Blasting and Protective Coating
A 2,000m2 fully enclosed blasting and painting workshop, on the same site as fabrication.
NWEC operates a 2,000 square metre fully enclosed blasting and painting workshop on the same site as fabrication, so surface treatment is completed under controlled conditions before handover, with no external coating yards in the process. We bring over 30 years of shop and site painting experience across tanks, piping spools, plate work and steel structures.
What our surface treatment covers
- Abrasive blasting in a state-of-the-art chamber, 6 m wide by 5.7 m high by 20 m long, with 10 tonne overhead cranes
- Surface preparation to AS 1627.4 and ISO 8501-1
- Protective coating to AS/NZS 2312
- Inspection and dry film thickness (DFT) testing to AS 3894
- In-house NACE Level 2 certified inspectors
- Shop and site painting
- PCCP accredited for Painting classes 2, 3 and 4
We handle tanks, piping spools, plate work and steel structures across a wide range of sizes, all under one roof with fabrication.

On its own or as the final stage of fabrication, we blast, coat and inspect to the specification, and document it, before it leaves our gate.
