Structural Steel Fabrication
Full-range structural and plant steel fabrication, in-house in Sydney.
NWEC has provided first-class fabrication services to Australian industry for over 30 years. From our multi-discipline Villawood facility we deliver full-range structural steel and plant fabrication, CC3 certified under AS/NZS 5131, with mechanical installation and project management across the infrastructure, energy and industrial sectors.
What we fabricate
- Pipework – general, petrochemical, high temperature and pressure, in all grades and sizes
- Structural steelwork for plant and building structures, pipe racks and support steel
- Conveyor gantries and associated structures
- Pressure vessels to AS 1210
- Tanks to API 650
- Platework for bins, tank work, hoppers and chutes
- Railway Structure overhead traction structures and framing, bridges, signal structures, masts and stations
- Pre-assembly & Modularisation including roofing, mechanical equipment, electrical and instrumentation installation and pre-delivery testing
Capacity
- 80 tonnes per week typical throughput, up to 200 at peak, from a 1.8 hectare Villawood facility
- 50 to 80 permanent staff, scaling to up to 500 field personnel
- 2,000 square metre fully enclosed blasting and painting workshop on-site

Quality and documentation Tier 1 contractors rely on
Fabrication is only as good as the documentation behind it. NWEC delivers the paperwork trail Tier 1 head contractors require:
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), developed and maintained per project
- Full material traceability, from mill certificate through to installed steel
- Manufacturer’s Data Records (MDR), weld maps and logs, handed over as a complete package
- Welding to AS/NZS ISO 3834.2, by qualified welders with qualified procedures
- Non-destructive testing and coating inspection to AS 1627.4, ISO 8501-1, AS/NZS 2312 and AS 3894
