Shutdowns, Turnarounds and Maintenance
Skilled trades, specialist fabrication and integrated shutdown services.
Shutdown windows are fixed and the delivery date does not move. NWEC brings over 30 years of experience providing critical resources to Australia’s heavy industry shutdown sector, scaling from a permanent workforce of 50 to 80 up to 500 field personnel to meet compressed timelines without compromising quality.
How we support shutdowns and maintenance
- Skilled welding, boilermaking and associated trade resources to end clients and major shutdown contractors
- Specialist fabrication and shutdown installation as a key subcontractor to a major contractor or EPC
- Integrated shutdown, fabrication and maintenance services under an ongoing maintenance contract, in close association with your operations and maintenance teams
Project management and on-site installation
Beyond trades and fabrication, NWEC delivers as head contractor, major contractor, or key nominated subcontractor. Our project and construction management capability covers:
- Full project and construction management, including mechanical installation and coordination of sub-trades
- Supply, fabrication, testing, painting, delivery and installation of all steelwork and piping
- Erection of structure and associated elements, and installation of major equipment and systems
- Design management, shop detailing, scoping, planning and programming
- On-site marshalling, tie-ins and commissioning
- Full site management, including safety, quality, HR and approvals, with project handover, training and documentation
Quality and documentation Tier 1 contractors rely on
On a live site, the documentation has to keep pace with the work. NWEC delivers the paperwork trail Tier 1 head contractors require:
- Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), developed and maintained per project
- Full material traceability, from mill certificate through to installed steel
- Manufacturer's Data Records (MDR), weld maps and logs, handed over as a complete package
- Welding to AS/NZS ISO 3834.2, by qualified welders with qualified procedures
- Non-destructive testing and coating inspection to AS 1627.4, ISO 8501-1, AS/NZS 2312 and AS 3894
